Vessels Of Honor – A Disciplined Race – Part 2

Christian believers are tied in with the heroes of faith from the time of Abel through the prophets and kings to the closing of the Old Testament. Just as each one of the heroes discovered the grace of God in their failures and endured the chastening of the Lord, so also did the members of the church.

Every believer has a race to run in this life.  We are predestined in Christ to fulfill a specific purpose in the dispensation that we live in.  Hebrews 12 gives us insight into how we are to run our race.  In this series of teachings, we are going to look at these truths and how they apply to our lives today.

Part 2 – Avoiding weights and sins is a must if we are going to run our race all the way until the end.  In addition, we must run with endurance.  Bob Yandian said this concerning endurance, “Running the race with endurance refers to the daily Christian life which all believers must participate in.  This is the life of forgetting past sins and looking to the future with the power of the Holy Spirit.  “Endurance” is a perpetuation of the faith-rest technique because believers must run in the strength of the Holy Spirit and not in their own strength.  By remaining under the control of the Holy Spirit, believers won’t slip back into the strength of the flesh to continue the race.  Having begun in the Spirit, we must continue in it each day.”
