Salt And Light (Part 5)

“The church is a lifeboat, not a pleasure boat.  Entertainers are not needed or wanted.  From the captain to the cook all hands are needed on deck for soul saving.  The church that does not seek the lost is lost itself.”  -Reinhard Bonnke-

“We have only as long as we live to reach those who live as long as we live.”  -Reinhard Bonnke-

“Somebody once said that most people live as if this life were a permanent arrangement.  The Bibles message is that our days are numbered – NOT numberless.”  -Reinhard Bonnke-

“The great quality of Jesus is that He came when the Father sent Him.  And the great quality about us should be that we go when Jesus sends us.  As the Father has sent Me, I also send you (John 20:21).  The church should plan to neglect anything which interferes with going.”  -Reinhard Bonnke-

“Salt and Light.”  Before Jesus left the earth He gave us the great commission in Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name, they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” NKJV

In verse 20 of Mark 16, we read that the eleven went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.  Amen.

Part 5 – As long as I have been saved and in ministry, I have seen these verses play out over and over again in churches as well as in individual life.  I have had to fight through them myself.  This seems to be one of the major patterns that the enemy uses in order to stop the plan of God.  If we are going to be salt and light, we must be on guard against the attacks that we see Paul referring to in 1 Cor. 10.  The children of Israel saw great acts of God’s mercy and power demonstrated when the Lord delivered them from Egyptian bondage, but sadly a large portion of that group did not ever enter or enjoy the promised land.

-Four areas we must be aware of-

  1. Lust of evil things.

  2. Keep yourself from idols.

  3. Tempting or testing God

  4.  Murmuring or complaining
