We live in a culture today that is moving further and further away from the truth, a culture that tells us that truth is whatever a person thinks or feels, they call it “my truth”. As believers, we have been instructed and empowered to live in self-control by the grace of God. Many believers though sincere have not learned to possess their vessels. When we are born again our spirits are made brand new in the image of God, but we still have a mind and a body that need to be brought under the control of the spirit man. In this series of teachings pastor, Sean is going to share from the Scriptures on what it means to “Possess Your Vessel.” Through this series, we will see that God has provided His ability to live a stable Christian life – spirit, soul, and body.
1 Thess 4:3 For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice, 4 That each one of you should know how to possess (control, manage) his own body in consecration (purity, separated from things profane) and honor, 5 Not [to be used] in the passion of lust like the heathen, who are ignorant of the true God and have no knowledge of His will, AMP
Part 6 – The understanding of the nature and desire of our flesh is vital to walking in the spirit daily. This understanding empowers us to recognize when the enemy and the flesh are trying to lead us away from the spirit. In this message we give definition to adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, and hatred from Galatians 5. While these topics can at times be uncomfortable it is important that we understand them for ourselves and so that we can help others.
