We live in a culture today that is moving further and further away from the truth, a culture that tells us that truth is whatever a person thinks or feels, they call it “my truth”. As believers, we have been instructed and empowered to live in self-control by the grace of God. Many believers though sincere have not learned to possess their vessels. When we are born again our spirits are made brand new in the image of God, but we still have a mind and a body that need to be brought under the control of the spirit man. In this series of teachings pastor, Sean is going to share from the Scriptures on what it means to “Possess Your Vessel.” Through this series, we will see that God has provided His ability to live a stable Christian life – spirit, soul, and body.
1 Thess 4:3 For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice, 4 That each one of you should know how to possess (control, manage) his own body in consecration (purity, separated from things profane) and honor, 5 Not [to be used] in the passion of lust like the heathen, who are ignorant of the true God and have no knowledge of His will, AMP
Part 5 – The Scriptures are clear that it is our responsibility to do something with our bodies and its desires. Part of controlling those desires is understanding that the enemy works through our minds with thoughts and suggestions that appeal to the sinful desires of the flesh. As you apply the truth of the Scriptures to your life you experience freedom in Christ Jesus.
