We live in a culture today that is moving further and further away from the truth, a culture that tells us that truth is whatever a person thinks or feels, they call it “my truth”. As believers, we have been instructed and empowered to live in self-control by the grace of God. Many believers though sincere have not learned to possess their vessels. When we are born again our spirits are made brand new in the image of God, but we still have a mind and a body that need to be brought under the control of the spirit man. In this series of teachings pastor, Sean is going to share from the Scriptures on what it means to “Possess Your Vessel.” Through this series, we will see that God has provided His ability to live a stable Christian life – spirit, soul, and body.
1 Thess 4:3 For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice, 4 That each one of you should know how to possess (control, manage) his own body in consecration (purity, separated from things profane) and honor, 5 Not [to be used] in the passion of lust like the heathen, who are ignorant of the true God and have no knowledge of His will, AMP
Part 3 – The Lord has a desire that we abound more and more in our Christianity. Paul tells us this by the Holy Spirit in 1 Thessalonians 4:1, 2. As believers we must realize that the Lord has empowered us in the new birth to live out the instruction given to us in Scripture. We are empowered to obey the Lord in possessing our vessels.
