Foundations – Pardon Me
Herb Fuerst shares with us what the Scriptures teach on forgiveness.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind). 32 And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you. AMP
When we forgive we are making a decision to absolve or release the person or persons who have done us wrong or sinned against us. We do this with the same motivation and heart as God, we forgive the way God forgave us in Christ. In the Scripture, the Lord uses phrases like, drop all, put away and banish when it comes to unforgiveness. As believers, we need to be aware of our hearts and not allow the enemy to plant his distortions in our lives. Forgiving people have tender hearts and live a life of peace. Imitate God as dear children!
