Phil 4:15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared (distributed, be a partaker, partnered) with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.  NKJV

I have heard it said and found it to be true myself, that if you want to quiet down a crowd in church just start talking about 1 of 3 subjects, “marriage, parenting or money.”  The Bible has plenty to say about all three.  In our relationship with the Lord we must not pick and choose the Scriptures we like but we must allow all the Scriptures in all areas shape our lives.  God gave us His words for our good not for our destruction.

“The Midas Touch” By: Kenneth E. Hagin

“Throughout the history of the Church, there have been extreme applications of almost every basic truth or doctrine, including issues such as baptism, resurrection, the Trinity, ministry gifts, divine healing, and the walk of faith.  The topic of money and prosperity is no exception.  There are those in the ditch on one side of the road who teach that Jesus lived in abject poverty, that money is evil, and that Biblical prosperity has nothing to do with material things.  And in the other ditch, there are people who are preaching that getting rich is the main focus of faith, that God’s main concern is your material well-being, and that money is the true measure of spirituality.  Where is the truth?  It’s found far away from both extremes, on much higher ground.”

The Bible will always bring balance to any subject.  We must remember to not just swallow what our favorite preacher says.  We must remember to put forth due diligence in studying and looking at the Scriptures for ourselves.  Our denominations can have good doctrine, but they can have traditions as well that replace the Word of God and of course make it of none effect in our lives.  In this series allow the Word of God to transform your mind and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in the Lord’s will.
